Our Yakisugi side table/stool is made out of the finest Essex chestnut trees that come from controlled forrests in the region. 
Shou Sugi Ban 焼杉板 (or Yakisugi) is an ancient Japanese exterior siding technique that preserves wood by charring it with fire. We are applying that technique to our side table/stool, which gives to it that unique look and character.
